I met Peter Wallburg (Jr) at dinner last night and took that as a sign that it was time to post my update. I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s posts-what a balanced and optimistic group you all are.
After college, I spent a couple of years in NYC. I married Lendy Donnelly (SHS 1986) in 1991 and we moved to NH for grad school. After school, we returned to NJ, living in Short Hills for 8 years while I worked in NYC. All three of our kids were born at Overlook, and I remind them that they are still Jersey at heart.
We moved to Darien, CT when I took a job in Greenwich. We spent 18 years there, raising our three children and enjoying the access to the water. The deli’s were great but no Sloppy Joe’s unfortunately. After the kids were finished high school, we moved to Charleston, SC in 2020 and have loved the mild winters and exploring the area.
Our three kids (Drew-29, Ali-27 and Christian-25) are spread out all over, which makes it a challenge to get everyone together for a family photo. I have posted a picture from Drew’s wedding in Steamboat last summer, along with our new daughter in law, Dani. Drew and Dani live in Denver, Ali is in San Francisco and Christian is in NYC. We are busy traveling to see them all, but we are fortunate that they like to visit us in Charleston and at our summer camp in Lake Placid, NY.
I am busy running a small business that takes me to the Cincinnati area every other week. We sell and repair fire apparatus and equipment in KY, OH, IN, SC and GA. I’m hoping Eric Evers will be at the reunion so I can get his advice!
Lendy and I have now been married 34 years and we’ve been a couple for 41. Not sure where all of that time went but we are still having fun skiing, hiking and enjoying the Charleston restaurant scene. Still no Sloppy Joe’s down here, so a trip to Towne Deli will be mandatory during reunion weekend.
I feel fortunate to stay in touch with a group of friends from 1985. You may have seen a picture I posted in the photo album from one of our annual ski trips. We also have a daily Wordle group, very cut-throat at $1/day ;).
I should also note that fellow Class of 1985 Chris Decker is a brother in law, having married Lendy’s older sister Kelly (Donnelly), who was the class of 1984. Lots of Hilltoppers in the family.
I am looking forward to seeing you all at the reunion!
