What fun to catch a window on folks’ lives! Thanks.

I have been in Portland, Oregon since leaving Summit: College, a career in education running an alternative program – middle-schools, high schools, some college and career prep – and working on education reform, a six-year stint promoting Tribal interests, public access, and fundraising at Willamette Falls, the continent’s second-largest waterfall, which is about 10 miles south of my home in Portland.

My only child is about to graduate college and I met my wife in college. Oh yeah, and I swapped my middle and last names on getting married.

A clear through-line for the last 40 years has been Zen Buddhism – amidst lots of backpacking, running, skiing, mountain climbing. For the last six years I’ve been leading Ring of Moss, a Zen Center in Milwaukie, Oregon. This is what happens to a person after doing multiple silent retreats every year since 1988. Lots of sitting around.

I’m not going to make it across the country for a reunion but it’s been a hoot to read what folks are up to.
