It’s hard to believe it’s been 40 years! I think by now you all know that Derek Abbott (SHS 1983) and I met in Charlotte, NC and married in 1991. He went to UNC Law and we settled in Delaware in 1995. It’ll be 34 years in November:)
I spent most of my career at Christiana Care Health System in Organizational Development. In 2007 I decided it was time to stay home with the kiddos. I started a business incorporating all of my passions… sewing, painting (interior and artistic), organizing, designing custom built ins, carpentry, and interior decorating. It was super flexible and what I needed at the time and it continues to grow and shift.
Derek and I have 3 daughters: Charlotte (28) lives in Chicago and works for the Barbara Bush Foundation while her husband is finishing his MBA at Northwestern. Hope (26) traveled the world and decided it was time to get serious. She’s a 1L at Tulane Law. Paige (23) just got her Masters in Accounting at Wake and started last week at Deloitte in Baltimore.
Derek and I stay busy. We spend our summers in South Bethany Beach, travel, visit the kids, and balance the lives of our aging parents. When home we ski, golf, pickle, paddle, and play tennis. We are blessed and grateful for our good health and good joints! We plan to retire in 2030! I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. See you soon!r
