After college I moved to Seattle and immersed myself as an avid consumer of Seattle culture: the theatre scene from fringe to Equity; the underground comics and zines scene; the Alt Music scene, especially Matt Dresdner’s bands The Gits, Evil Stig, and The Dancing French Liberals of ‘48 (also a shout out to Steve Gero’s band DC Beggars); and of course the beer and brewing scene. I tried the coffee scene, but I kept burning my tongue. I had to get a job to afford all of this consuming, so I worked my way up from a temp-agency-typist (thank you Miss Timko!) to Senior Title Officer at Chicago Title of Washington over the course of a decade. And while I was doing all of this running around, I met the love of my life, artist Yvonne Petkus, and in doing so I added the art scene to my activities. Meanwhile I also attended Robert Headley’s housewarming party in Medina, visited Andrew Dyke in Portland where his house had a fire pole and a toilet halfway up the stairs, and I ran into Pete Sanborn at an ultimate frisbee-related party. When Yvonne got a tenure track position at Western Kentucky University, I followed her to Bowling Green Kentucky where I have lived for the past 24 years (longer than anywhere else!). In Bowling Green I have bounced around at a variety of odd jobs: downtown revitalization as part of a National Trust Main Street Program; GIS watershed modeling for the Biology Department under a federal grant to analyze and predict the effects of the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program; and assistant to the head of the Honors College at WKU. All the while I was still working a few weeks every summer for Chicago Title back in Seattle. In 2017 I finally got my old job back full-time with Chicago Title of Washington, and have been working remotely for the past 7 years. I am also slowly (very slowly!) rehabbing our 110-year old house. It should be done just in time for my wake. We have one dog, one cat, and one fish. Right now I am studying to be certified as an EMT with no plans to become an actual EMT (I like working my low-excitement job from home!). The last big trip we took was to Venice for the Biennale in 2024. I am sorry to be missing this reunion.
