Mary Elmiger

Aloha, Class of 1985!
After college in D.C., I worked at a law firm until 1994 when I returned to New Jersey to run my father’s practice. I worked in Summit until his retirement in 2008. For the next several years, I continued working with solo practitioners at the Jersey Shore while also having the privilege of caring for my mom. After she passed, I decided it was time to chase my endless summer — so I traded the Shore for the sand of Oahu!
In 2021, I took a giant leap and moved to Hawaii with my youngest sister, Patti. We found a perfect multi-generational home in beautiful Kailua, just minutes from the beach. It was the best decision ever. I transitioned easily into Hawaii law and now work remotely as a litigation paralegal with a local firm. It’s been an exciting shift after many years in real estate, and I’m loving the balance of meaningful work and island life.
These days, my favorite moments are spent with my 5-year-old nephew, Finn — whether we’re at the beach, on an island adventure, or just hanging out at my place, which has become his favorite hangout. Every day truly feels like summer here.
While I won’t be able to make it back for this reunion (12+ hours of travel each way makes it tough!), I’ll be there in spirit — and I vote that our next reunion should be in Hawaii! 🌺
Sending warm aloha and happy memories to everyone!
